Madinson, Wisconsin The mayor of Madison, Wisconsin, said the state will conduct an investigation into a police-involved shooting that took place Wednesday after an officer got into a “struggle” with a suspect, according to police. Former Missouri Police Officer Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Assaulting Handcuffed Man July 23, 2026. St. Louis, Missouri A former Northwoods, Missouri police officer was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for the assault of a handcuffed man in 2023. Her son was killed by ICE at a traffic stop. She says she’s still waiting for justice July 22, 2026. Texas. NPR. When Rachel Reyes learned about the recent deaths of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Joan Sebastián Durán Guerrero at the hands of federal immigration agents, she had flashbacks to what happened to her son 16 months ago. Her son, Ruben Ray Martinez, was fatally shot in March 2025 by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during a traffic stop — like in these cases. ICE keeps accusing immigrants of ‘weaponizing’ vehicles. Most claims fall apart July 22, 2026. Los Angeles. The Guardian. The Trump administration has repeatedly accused immigrants and protesters of “weaponizing” their vehicles to “assault” federal immigration agents, a claim used to justify arrests and deadly shootings by officers. But a Guardian review of 26 cases that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has promoted as evidence of a surge in “vehicular attacks” reveals most of those claims have fallen apart under scrutiny, with the accusations consistently disproven by evidence or rejected in court. Only one of the 26 cases has resulted in an assault conviction, according to court records and information shared by prosecutors. Off-duty employee shoots protester near Colorado ICE facility, police say July 18, 2026. Denver An off-duty employee of the company that runs an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Colorado used a personal firearm to shoot a protester outside the facility, authorities said. The shooting unfolded on July 16 near the Aurora ICE Processing Center, also known as the Denver Contract Detention Facility, according to the Aurora Police Department. Police found a woman with a gunshot wound to her lower body, the department said in a statement. Cities that block ICE could lose police, rape kit funding, DOJ says July 16. 2026. USA The Trump administration is threatening to withhold federal grant money from cities that do not cooperate with ICE, putting programs such as police body‑armor, ambulance services and the $350 million Sexual Assault Kit Initiative at risk, while several cities prepare lawsuits. |
