The fatal shooting of a motorist by an immigration agent in Maine on Monday is the latest in a series of deaths tied to United States President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign. At least nine people have died during immigration enforcement operations since Trump returned to office. United by grief, mothers in Brazil demand reparations after police killed their sons July 15, 2026. Brazil When a Brazilian police officer killed Ana Paula Oliveira’s 19-year-old son in a Rio de Janeiro favela in 2014, the mother of two didn’t think she would survive the grief. Founding a group with other grieving mothers — attending judicial hearings, protests and commemorative events together and providing essential psychological support to one another — saved her life, Oliveira says. | Mothers Against Police Brutality (MAPB) Mothers Against Police Brutality (MAPB) is a Dallas-based multi-generational, multi-racial, and multi-ethnic coalition uniting people nationally, to hold law enforcement agencies more accountable. Collette Flanagan founded MAPB in 2013 after her son, Clinton Allen, an unarmed young Black man in custody, was shot to death by a Dallas police officer.
