North Carolina A police officer in Shelby, North Carolina, has been charged with assault and fired after he was seen repeatedly punching a Black woman during an arrest Friday. New Jersey For more than a week, protests have been taking place in New Jersey over the conditions at a migrant detention camp – the latest flashpoint over President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. The situation reached a boiling point after family members of some of the detainees alleged inhumane conditions inside the privately run Delaney Hall. The Department of Homeland Security denied the allegations and accused protesters of engaging in violent behavior. United Kingdom The death of a white student who was handcuffed by police after he had been stabbed is provoking a national outcry in Britain, with officers under fire for their conduct and far-right leaders accused of using the teen’s murder to stoke racist violence for political gain. |
| Mothers Against Police Brutality (MAPB) Mothers Against Police Brutality (MAPB) is a Dallas-based multi-generational, multi-racial, and multi-ethnic coalition uniting people nationally, to hold law enforcement agencies more accountable. Collette Flanagan founded MAPB in 2013 after her son, Clinton Allen, an unarmed young Black man in custody, was shot to death by a Dallas police officer. Transforming grief into determination, Flanagan and MAPB are leading the charge to change deadly force policy in Dallas and throughout the U.S.; to lifting up families who have lost loved ones to police violence; and to reimagining public safety, divesting from police departments and investing in the health, housing, household incomes, human rights, creative arts, and overall well-being of our communities. www.mothersagainstpolicebrutality.org |
