What Police Brutality Looks Like

Police brutality is a national disgrace. On average, three people a day are killed by police in the U.S. Countless others are beaten or otherwise injured at the hands of law enforcement. Only a handful of these extrajudicial killings and beatings are picked up by the national news media. But well over 90% of cases are scarcely known outside of the victim’s loved ones or the local community.

When a victim of police brutality or the surviving family in killings by police, they do not have a wide platform to share tell their story. Police brutality occurs literally every day, and the stark reality of these encounters must be shared.

This page is meant to be a burning lens on police officers who kill and injure people who, it must be remembered, have not been charged, much less convicted, of any crime. The harsh reality, reported here in your uploads, speaks persuasively to the need for federal legislation to combat this ongoing crisis.
